Mixed Media Works
by Michael Kellner
Architectural spaces are designed to be perfect but are reshaped over time to reflect both personal and grand narratives. In an attempt to understand my experience of these spaces, my work uses materials from traditional architectural rendering and fine arts. While the work may appear to be a tightly constructed technical drawing from a distance, the imperfect, hand-drawn quality of the image reveals itself to the viewer under closer examination. Much in the same way we walk down a street, the viewer can choose to stay on the sidewalk and appreciate a house or building from a distance, or they can walk up and open the door.
Michael Kellner has a BFA from the University of Louisville and a MFA from the University of Cincinnati. He is an active artist, student, teacher, husband, father, runner, reader, music collector and film-goer, although not always necessarily in that order.
The opening reception is December 2, 2011 from 6-10 pm. The show runs through December 23. After December 2, contact Paula Rose to view by appointment: [email protected].
